Give every page a useful title
Write a unique browser-tab title that identifies the current page before the website name.
Why it matters
Vague or repeated titles make browser tabs and screen-reader page lists difficult to distinguish.
How to fix it
Describe the current page in a title element.
Put the specific page name before the organisation or website.
Update the title whenever a single-page application changes page.
Example
<title>Website</title>
<title>Contact our team · Acme</title>
How to check your fix
Check your page again with ibin. The issue disappears from your report once every place is fixed. Then try it yourself the way a visitor would.
- Check the page again and make sure the issue no longer shows up in your report.
- Try the fixed part yourself: with a mouse, with only a keyboard, and zoomed in.
- If you can, ask someone who uses a screen reader to try it too.
